Q&A with Loni Brooke Photography, San Diego
Before leaving San Diego, I wanted to get some professional photos taken of just Travis and me (no pups this time!). I reached out to Loni Brooke Photography to see if she would be up for some classic photos on the beach and then some sexy swimsuit photos in the water.
As I always mention, I hire a professional photographer every year and I wanted to make sure we got some great San Diego photos to print for our wall. The waves were something Key West did not offer and I truly LOVE how Brooke captures the beauty of the pacific ocean in all her photos. So we braved the cold San Diego water and man it was so worth it!!!
I am so blown away by all the final photos! Scroll below to read a fun Q&A with Brooke from Loni Brooke photography and to see some of my top favorite photos from this session.
P.S. Her favorite quote is actually a line from the song Into The Mystic which was our wedding song! Totally a coincidence and I mean come on how cool is that connection?!??!
Get to know BROOKE from Loni Brooke Photography:
1. When did you start getting interested in photography?
As a child in the 90’s! I would buy disposable cameras and set up backdrops in my basement and have pretend fashion photo shoots with my friends. I then went on to take photography classes in college. I got my first DSLR camera in 2011 when my daughter was born. Then I started my business in 2017 after my son was born.
2. What is your favorite part about being a photographer?
I love the schedule flexibility and being my own boss. Having my own business makes it possible to be there for my children in the ways that I would like, while also having a career. I also love being a part of such special moments in my client’s lives. I get to be a part of proposals, pregnancy announcements, weddings, birthdays and more. It’s also very special to see loyal clients each year and document them as their families grow.
3. What would you recommend every person should have/hire a photographer for?
I wish I had hired a newborn photographer. I didn’t for either of my children and photos that I took weren’t what I had wanted (I don’t specialize in newborn). I’m also a big supporter of having a family session each year. It’s so fun to see how much my children grow year after year.
4. Quickly describe a photo session with you:
I like to keep my sessions fun! We will spend a few minutes on posed photos for Grandma’s Christmas card. But, the rest of the time will be spent playing and having fun. My beach sessions almost always end with us all getting in the ocean!
5. Photo advice for someone wanting to take a great photograph?
Just keep practicing! Photograph everything, even if it’s with your phone. Try to think about your composition, interest and emotion in the photo.
6. Just for fun, what is your favorite quote?
“ Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly.” - Van Morrison
