Family: W at Montevideo, Uruguay
This sweet family holds a special place in my heart, because they were our first friends in Montevideo, Uruguay. They helped us get settled into our new home, taught us the ins and outs of living in this city, and throughout their time here were our very close friends. We couldn’t say farewell without a family photo session so they can have some tangible memories from their time here in Uruguay.
During the summer months, the local golf club is open to the public on Sundays so people can walk the golf course. This golf course was a mental lifesaver for these three when they moved here. When they arrived in Montevideo, it was the beginning of covid and they weren’t able to do much, but get outside. With so many memories at this location we knew we had to take photos on the golf course….. and then the day of our session it thunder stormed - not ideal for a golf course session!
Sooooo we last minute changed the date for a month later. Being the last month of them living here, they were booked almost every weekend until their last weekend in town. When we showed up at the golf course to take some family photos it was now fall and turns out they don’t open the golf course to the public during fall! But that didn’t stop us from sneaking a few photos along the walking path. There was no way I was letting them leave without some photos from this favorite location!
After sneaking in a few photos at the golf course we jumped in the car and drove down to the famous Rambla de Montevideo. In my opinion the rambla is soooo Montevideo and every family should get a photo somewhere along this 22km walkway while living here. It’s beautiful along the water and if there isn’t a beach, there are always some rocks to take portraits on.
It was cold and windy, but we took as many photos as we could before our fingers and noses were frozen! I LOVE that Robyn brought along the Uruguayan Chal Huella for some of the portraits (isn’t the pink color so beautiful!) This wool shawl is by far one of my most favorite products made in Uruguay.
I LOVE that this sweet family gave me the opportunity to photograph them before they left for their next adventure back to the United States. They truly are going to be missed, but in this life we often say Farewell instead of Goodbye, because it’s a small world and I know we will run into each other again.
